What is a VIN# and why do you need it?

A VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, is a unique 17-character alphanumeric code used to identify a vehicle. It acts as a vehicle’s fingerprint, containing information about its manufacturer, year, make, model, and other key specifications. For example, there are 8 different versions (or trim packages) for the 2025 Ford F-150. There are 10 different versions (or trim packages) for the 2025 Dodge RAM. The VIN# identifies the different versions and helps us create a more accurate estimate. PLEASE NOTE: Your vehicle’s VIN# does not include any personal information about you.

Where is the VIN# on my vehicle?

It’s usually in 2 locations;

  1. inside the front left door (driver’s side). It can be either on the door itself or on the middle pillar between the front and rear doors.

2. The VIN number can also be found on the dashboard visible through the bottom of the windshield as seen from the driver’s side (left side) of the vehicle.
