Preparing for Safety

Hello Colorworks community, thanks for tuning in.

Being a careful driver and taking precautions goes a long way to ensuring your safety on the roads.  Unfortunately, no matter the season or conditions, there is a risk that we may be left waiting for awhile.  Perhaps it’s the result of weather conditions and we’ve slipped on some ice, maybe the soft shoulder has pulled us into the ditch, or our vehicle has some engine troubles.  Being prepared for this is just as important as being a safe driver.

An annual maintenance check to make sure your vehicle is in good shape and all fluids are topped up is a solid first step.  Another good idea is to keep a survival kit in your vehicle, since having essential supplies can provide comfort and safety for you and your passengers should you become stranded.  The Ontario Ministry of Transportation recommends to include:

  • Gloves
  • Windshield wiper fluid
  • Safety vest
  • Ice scraper/snow brush
  • Shovel
  • Sand or other traction aid
  • Tow rope or chain • Booster cables
  • Road flares or warning lights
  • Fuel line antifreeze
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Small tool kit
  • Extra clothing and footwear
  • Blanket
  • Non-perishable energy foods – e.g., chocolate or granola bars, juice, soup, bottled water
  • Candle
  • Matches or lighter

Remember that prevention and preparedness are the best ways to deal with emergencies and the unexpected.

Please stay safe and tune into our next blog.

Long Weekend Aftermath

BackyardDrinkHi there and thanks for tuning into PMS! (Pass Me the Star [Screwdriver]).  This past long weekend (in Ontario) was amazing!  The weather was perfect.  Hopefully, everyone is safe and experiencing positive aftermath.

I.e. you have a minor sunburn or your abdominals ache from laughing too much with family and friends.  Maybe your body is tired because you went camping or you’re on the bloated side from overindulging on BBQ.

We know, however, that there are some folks who experienced some not so positive things over the long weekend.  By Monday afternoon, Ontario OPP officers had laid 160 impaired-driving charges.  In one weekend.

While Colorworks Express Autobody Centers are ready to fix up your vehicle no matter what happened, an extra layer of bad feels is added when the repair could have been avoided.  Long weekends, weekends in general, are supposed to be a good time.  Sure – let loose and relax.  But be safe on the roads, for your own sake and the safety of everyone else.

As the summer continues, head to those BBQs and the beach.  If you decide to consume alcohol do so responsibly.  If you consume too much – no worries, we’re only human – make arrangements for a safe ride home.  It’s simple.  You’re worth too much to risk it.

Thanks for tuning in this week and I’ll catch you next time!

Jess
